Orders with no tip might take longer to get delivered — are you sure you want to continue? Dashers can pick and choose which orders they want to do. Orders that take longer to be accepted by Dashers tend to result in slower delivery.

So basically this is extortion. Glad I don't use these services they cost more than double what the meal actually costs picking it up yourself.

Ok I actually needed to look up Doordash because I'm not privy. This is a company that will pick up and deliver food to you whether it's groceries, gas station food, fast food, or a restaurant food? Basically, any place that sells something you can throw down your gullet? Is that the gist?

I drive doordash for extra cash on the weekends. Gets me outta the house and lets me buy stupid shit

This is true

It's like ubereats where people can sign up and take people's orders and pick them up for you. You use your own vehicle to drive.

Yep, you agree to pay more for the items they are picking up than they actually cost, then add a service fee, then add a delivery fee, and then add a tip. All so you don't have to get up off of your 378 pound ass and drive the 4 minutes down the street yourself.

I have done doordash delivery this year for extra cash as well. Not in some months though.

It's great when you can drive 3 miles and make $20 because someone doesn't want to pick up their buffalo wild wings lol but it's hit or miss.

But in terms of me using it to order food? Never, it's just lazy, stupid expensive and your food would be colder/eaten. In general I haven't had a bit of fast food in 6+ months

Ho-ly jeez. This is exactly what I was getting at. Can American's be any dumber and lazier than we already are? (I'm assuming this is U.S. based because it tracks with every other stupid thing we do here)

Like, this shouldn't even be a tip conversation. Get in the car, take some public transport, or walk yourself to where you need to get your food. I can't even believe this is a business that exists.

It's a world wide thing. We aren't the only lazy fucks.

We don't use it often but we do use delivery services when they offer a good discount to where getting it delivered is the same cost as going and picking it up.

I tip a fixed 3 dollars because their workload doesn't change depending on the order size so why should the tip change. If it's from somewhere far I'll make it 5.

Boy that sure takes the Dash out of DoorDash, amirite 🖕😃👍. It's always cold anyway. It's never going to not be cold. If you DoorDash Chipotle, you get the double whammy. Cold and skimpy portions.

You pre tip? I usually tip based on the service. I've never used door dash and never fucking will based on this shit. They must be raking it in to be able to come out and say that. FUCK YOUUUUU!!! I can't fucking stand entitlement culture and this is an extension of that. You get tipped BASED ON YOUR SERVICE, so you motherfucking better hustle for every order. Yes, you will get stiffed, but you're also doing a job an ex fellon can do. Deal with it.

DoorDash and UberEats are total ripoffs as others have said. We use them in two situations, when we are real sick and won't drive and when we are drunk and can't drive… and forgot to go grocery shopping.

Uber eats was great at the start of the pandemic because they had so.many specials and waived fees. No its insande. If i want to order 2 burgers and small.fry from.McDo with inflation and tip and surcharges it damn near 20 bucks.

Wait, Pre-Tip? WTF?

I believe in tipping for anyone who does an outstanding job. I used to get tips from the Greatest Generation when I was a cart attendant years ago and helped old folks with their items and helping them load their car. However, with something like Doordash, that should just be baked into the price since the system knows pick up times and drop off times. If the restaraunts/businesses are dropping the ball, then it puts the onus on the delivery person who had no control over any of that.

Just charge the premium that a discrete service like this offers and give the drivers a percentage off that based on how well they are doing the job based on the Doordash metrics, not the customer. There are a lot of lazy assed skinflints out there looking for indentured servants, make them pay for their slovenly behavior.

All these apps have pre tip in.them. same on Uber. You have to chose the tip amount before you pay your order. Its basically an additional service charge at this point.

Anyways once we get self driving cars and robot drones we wont have to worry about it anymore.

People have "convenienced" themselves into a state of rot.

Don't use door dash but regular delivery places have this pre-tipping shit too, like Pizza Hut. I always feel like my food is being held hostage when there's an option to pre-tip so I guess it's cool to see that confirmed I guess.

I wouldn't have a problem with tipping if i got service. Tipping before receiving any service just rubs me the wrong way. What if you tipped and your food was still nasty cold?

Usually you get like 8 bucks or so a delivery as a driver. Adds up fast. Then i toss that into a high yield savings account

Was.thinking of doing this.. might wait.till after the winter. How much could you make in 20 hours minus fuel costs ?

Man I order from doordash all the time, I don't have a car and the most places are like 8 miles away from me. The other day I got it cold because the black girl delivering went in the wrong direction to a different town I complained and got six bucks back. The good thing about doordash is that you never have to complain to a person you just do it on the app and they instantly give you money for it no questions asked usually.

But because I'm so far and because of gas prices I find that my drivers are usually black if I don't tip well. As a test of this theory I decided to order again last night but to put a generous tip and it was a white couple who brought my food, they also got here faster than the black drivers did 😎

Whoa man, black people live on CPT and you can't blame them for something they were born with.

But yeah just in a general sense, I think you're going to get your stuff faster the higher you tip no matter how privileged or oppressed the driver is.

Pre-tipping is fucking retarded. How do I know you'll do a great job worthy of a tip before the service is rendered or goods delivered?

The service would be fantastic if not for humans be horrible fucking people. It creates a new job for folks who might need it while also providing opportunities for people to eat.

The problem boils down to each side.
First off you have the driver/delivery folks who are looking for the biggest deal and the cheapest cost to them. The Drivers direct personal interests come into conflict with you're order based on proximity variables........you typically have poorer/minority folks doing these deliveries and every penny matters to them versus some idiotic fuck paying double for something they can go get themselves.

Now becomes what I've seen which is why the whole thing is a disaster: People....

There's folks who abuse this system when ordering hacks can be found at sites like your typical fast food places where folks will order 200$+ worth of fast food for like 10$ in which some middle-person unbeknownst to them is involved in this scam delivering food, fucking the company, fucking the middle person, and customer getting an abundance of unnecessary product because 'they can'

This further creates a consequence for that middle person who if they don't deliver the food can be written up by the customer even know the customer is knowingly doing shady shit.

At this point I wouldn't take a job for door dash and I wouldn't fucking support their company either, I feel horrible for anybody who's been scammed all for just trying to make an honest living.

I deliver doordash. I just started doing it early this year.

I've actually delivered to a addresses that were literally the next door building to the restaurant. That happened twice.

And occasionally I get orders where I don't even bother to drive - the restaurant is like 200 meters from me....and the apartment I'm delivering to is like 400 meters from the restaurant. At that point I find it a hassle to even get in the car and find parking, so I just walk the whole thing.

And these aren't handicapped or elderly people....in fact they tend to be young 20s or 30s hipsters living in pretty expensive apartments in Falls Church, VA.

Curious what kind of $ you make per one of of these 'never-need-to-drive-deliveries'

If I order delivery, it's from a place that already has one in place aka most pizza joints. I always tip drivers from places that do so because hey, I'm too lazy to go get food myself? Food is here on time and is good? Thanks for braving the winter outside so I don't have to. And I tip 5-10 bucks on a $15-$20 order. Especially if it's a place I order from often.

However, that's rare these days as I will just order pickup and get it myself if I want and I generally don't tip on pick up orders because... Well, I'm basically serving myself. I sometimes do anyway if I actually get to know the staff and stuff but it's never as much as I would tip a driver.

Tips are a large part of my income, so I tip well when I feel it's appropriate as I know how hard good servers work.

That said, I've never used DoorDash, UberEats, SkipTheDishes or any other delivery service because I'm sure it adds a lot more money to food that is already expensive as is. I've heard so many nightmares from both delivery driver and customer sides, I'd rather not bother.
